#3 KE Matters – Equity and Inclusion in Research Funding: What does it mean for Knowledge Exchange and Commercialisation

Date of event:
Thursday, May 30, 2024
Thursday, 30 May | 12:00 - 12:45 BST | Online

Building on the findings from the report Equity and Inclusivity in Research Funding: Barriers and Delivering Change, the University of Oxford partnered with innovation management consultancy Oxentia Ltd to convene colleagues in the wider funding ecosystem, to determine and agree how to implement solutions to transform equity and inclusivity in research funding nationally. The output of this work is a soon-to-be-published article, joint statement and shared action plan.

In this webinar we will share the lessons learned from this work. We will explore how both the findings of the project and the process itself might be relevant for university practitioners supporting Knowledge Exchange and Commercialisation (KEC), and why improving EDI in research funding also benefits KEC.

Learning Points:
  • Learn about the outputs from the EDI in Research Funding Forum, and the process used to stimulate debate and convene the sector around a shared challenge.
  • Understand the key challenges and priorities for UK universities and funders related to increasing diversity and inclusivity in research funding.
  • Reflect on the implications of these findings for KEC, as part of the research and innovation continuum.
  • Find out how you can get involved and contribute to ongoing activities.
Who should attend?

Anyone interested in i) improving access to KE, impact and commercialisation for marginalised groups, ii) retaining talent in research and innovation, and iii) the practical implementation of actions that lead to greater equity and participation in KE, impact and commercialisation.
