About the Post

The University of Suffolk is seeking to appoint a new Head of Knowledge Exchange within the University of Suffolk Research and Knowledge Exchange Directorate. Working within the Research and Knowledge Exchange Office (RKEO), part of the Research and Knowledge Exchange Directorate, the post holder will work closely with the Head of Research Management and Head of Research Culture, Associate Deans Research and Knowledge Exchange, Research Institute Directors, the Business Engagement Team, and our academic staff to support existing and new Knowledge Exchange (KE) opportunities. They will develop and implement the KE strategy within the University which has a growing reputation for excellence in applied research, impact and partnership working. The post holder will support staff across the University to deliver a new KE Strategy to drive a substantial increase in KE activity and HEIF qualifying income.

About the Team

The Research and Knowledge Exchange Directorate at the University of Suffolk is a vibrant and dynamic entity dedicated to advancing the university's mission of excellence in research, innovation, and societal impact. Our directorate fosters a collaborative environment where academic and professional staff work together to drive research and KE initiatives that address real-world challenges. This collaborative approach enhances the quality and reach of our research and strengthens our connections with the wider communities. The RKEO serves as the University’s dedicated support team for all aspects of research and KE funding and activity. We offer a comprehensive range of services to staff members involved in research and knowledge exchange spanning the entire research and knowledge exchange process—from project development and identifying funding sources to securing funding. Additionally, we provide advice and guidance on managing projects, ethical considerations, and compliance with research and KE policies. We also oversee strategic planning for research and knowledge exchange at the institutional level, manage submissions for the Research Excellence Framework (REF) and the Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF), and ensure compliance with relevant Concordats.

About You

We are looking for an exceptional individual to lead our new KE strategy. Responsible for the KE team within the RKEO you will ensure high-quality planning, and monitoring and engagement of KE activities including our Civic University Agreement; KTPs; contractual research; public engagement, community impact and academic conferences.  As Head of Knowledge Exchange, you will have strong interpersonal skills and an extensive academic and/or professional background in KE to provide strategic leadership in the growth and development of KE and Public Engagement.  As the University places high importance on building and maintaining collaborative links with external stakeholders, you will have responsibility for inspiring and encouraging academic staff to develop key networks and utilise these to generate income through KE and public engagement activities.
