IP Commercialisation Coordinator - Northumbria University (Newcastle upon Tyne UK)

ABOUT THE ROLE

The role will directly support the Northumbria University Intellectual Property (IP) Commercialisation Team and be focussed on managing the University’s patent portfolio, ensuring all office actions and patent deadlines are met. It will also support an innovation portal – the Northumbria Knowledge Bank - that will allow external parties to access Northumbria Knowledge-based materials such as surveys, data, and software directly.

The role holder will also have the opportunity to work closely with individual members of the IP Commercialisation Team and get involved in a broad range of commercialisation activity across the campus and develop their experience and knowledge of IP Commercialisation and Knowledge Exchange. This will include providing administrative support to the IP Commercialisation Committee and Knowledge Exchange Operations Committee.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The IP Commercialisation Team at Northumbria University supports commercialisation of the University's research as a route to maximise impact. The team sits in the wider Research and Innovation Service. The team supports academic staff across all disciplines to move forward ideas and inventions arising from research towards a commercial end point. The team is business-focussed and work to support protection and licencing of IP. The team also support staff to create spinout companies for the commercialisation of their research.

ABOUT YOU

Ideally the candidate will hold a university degree preferably in a STEM subject and/or substantial professional experience and qualifications. Knowledge of Intellectual Property, commercial awareness and experience of working in the Higher Education Sector is desirable. The candidate should be highly organised with project and budget management skills and should have strong client relationship-building ability.
